About Me

Hi there! I'm Colette and I'm a mom and wife who loves to help other busy moms prepare simple, fun and delicious meals, snacks and desserts so they can have more time with their kids, save money and stress less!
I love to make the kitchen messy trying out new recipes. The cleaning isn't my favorite part but I get it done. I'm a self-taught, mom-taught, grandma-inspired baker who recently fell head over heels learning about food photography. My kids get annoyed that they have to wait to try something fresh from the kitchen because I need the right lighting. My dogs are likely circling the food photography stage waiting for my guard to drop for a second so that they can get their paws on the goods (who said this would all be smooth sailing, right?).
Why Sunday Bakers? Like most, I've juggled this amazing and crazy family/work shuffle and found myself gravitating to the kitchen at the weekends. These days, I've transitioned into more flexible work that allows me to be home with my kids more. Sundays are always my favorite no matter what my schedule is.
I love food made from scratch but then sometimes I mess up pancakes out of a box or burn a frozen pizza. I believe food is to be enjoyed together and that healthy greens and homemade chocolate cake are both part of wellness. I love farm to table. I love Kerrygold Irish Butter more than anyone probably should love butter. I'm an Irish native living in New England and soaking up all of its four seasons every year.
Outside of the kitchen, you'll find me wrestling my four kids out the door to Mass on Sundays. It's a full blown miracle when we get there on time. I didn't meet the force of 2 under 2 until I was 40! I love movement and fitness. It's a game changer in my own wellness so you'll find me on a walk, with the weights or on a yoga mat. I feel it badly when life gets hectic and I get away from it. Or you might find me with a large mug of tea or coffee in the wee hours of the morning with the daily readings or other faith and personal development inspired reading. I'm much more productive and alive at 4:30AM than 10:30PM.
This blog is my creative outlet where I will share my kitchen messes, bloopers...and successes. My recipes are for the home baker or cook. I have no professional training but I love digging into the kitchen and you'll see that in some of my "little bit of this, little bit of that" style. I test my own recipes and ask friends and family to help me out with that too, but I don't always have the time to run them through a bunch of times so please don't hesitate to reach out with a question or a comment.
My hope is to help readers realize that homemade, delicious, beautiful baking & cooking can still fit into the busy schedule at their own pace...and then sometimes you just need pancakes from the box and a frozen pizza.
Some of my recipes are indulgent. Some are on the lighter side as I try to create my own healthy life. I also like to feature local New England food and farms. Many recipes are inspiration from my native Ireland and my rock star baking mother and grandmothers.
If you would like to learn more about my recipes in addition to what you see here, I'm honored and grateful to have recipes featured on Finding Vegan, Food Gawker and the Peaceful Dumpling. You can also find more of my writing over on Central Mass Mom.
Let's make a mess in the kitchen!
